Dining with one’s friends and beloved family is certainly one of life’s primal and most innocent delights, one that is both soul-satisfying and eternal.    – Julia Child

I’ve always considered the kitchen as a place to create. After all, playing with food is fun. In my opinion the kitchen is the most important room in a home.

My family has always gathered to celebrate special occasions, birthdays and holidays. Growing up, most often our gatherings took place at my Abuela’s home. Upon my arrival I’d find her chopping something or making a sauce, handing me an apron, directing me to a task.

That kitchen was always bustling with family helping, mixing drinks, or someone trying to sneak a quick bite. Eventually we’d settle around the dining table to continue the conversations and indulge in the savory labor of love. My Abuela’s table was large enough to accommodate most of the family, but a few of us would overflow to the living room. Nonetheless, we had a blast.

To this day my family still gets together for celebrations and holiday functions. We overflow the dining table more than ever with our new generations and extended family. I still look forward to helping in the kitchen especially since I get to organize and host sometimes.

The best joy of all is that our family meals keep us connected to one another. I’m quite certain my family ties and fond kitchen memories have inspired me to launch my own cooking venture. I feel honored in helping others create their own social dining experiences and memories.
